The 4th Annual Quickblade Junior Pro & Youth Sup Fiesta on May 7-8th filled Bolsa Chica State Beach, CA with hundreds of energetic groms who were eager to compete and show off their skills. The youth-only event opened with the appropriate and inspiring slogan “Youth inspiring youth.”
Though some were new to the game, many refined SUP contestants were able to compete with others in their age and skill-level groups. On top of the standard rewards for racing and paddling, the event offered ‘special awards’ which included prizes for grade improvement, overall age-group championships, and of course a Mother’s Day writing contest. The youth-only weekend provides the next generation of SUP talent an opportunity to mix it up in a fun and friendly competition environment, and inspire each other over the two-day event. These kids are developing solid paddling and ocean bonafides early, and will definitely grow up being their own role models.
